Here at Shoretours.com, we have enjoyed the
unique experiences provided by the wonderful
local people of the islands and ports of call.
These being sole proprietors and locally owned
tour operators. They are the real people who
open their hearts with their gracious hospitality
and warm smiles. The ones that really make the
experience. This is where you find the experienced
fisherman loving the catch. Experienced guides
with not just the knowledge, but help you feel
the local legends and answer questions only
the way a native could. They are the taxi drivers,
heli' tours, and the one on one scuba guides.
Parasail with the largest rope...we could go
on and on. These people have touched our lives
with much laughter and great wonderment.
The Perdure Port Education Fund idea was born.
We have met so many wonderful and beautiful
people. We where in St. Thomas, USVI one evening
when we heard the most intriguing sound of what
seemed to be a massive number of steel drums
coming from a considerable distance. We just
had to check it out. After walking a little
more that a mile, to our surprise we found about
60 high school age students playing a sound
that kept us spell bound as we watched. After
the steel drums were put away we were greeted
with smiles, hey-mons, how's it goin', and sup'?
(short for "what's up). We met with the
instructor who explained that this was a government
sponsored program to give the youth something
to do and help keep them off drugs. Instructors
are there to help any one that may want help
with their home work, need some one to talk
to, and just be there for them as they practice.
They are the Rising Stars Youth Steel Orchestra.
After this experience we were determined to
create a fund to help the furthering of education
for deserving young adults that live in the
islands or on ports of call that are less fortunate
than others.
We have helped you by building this site which
you can use to find tour operators, local activities,
and travel related services and products throughout
the world. You will find that you are dealing
direct with most of these entities. We are excited
to help a few along the way to better themselves
through furthering their education and becoming
more self reliant. These individuals and perhaps
organizations will be chosen from ports and
locations listed on shoretours.com like the
ones you may visit. By participating in the
Perdure Port Education Fund, we are doing just
that. The purpose of this fund is to further
education on different ports world-wide.
How can you donate?
A portion of each sell of the WWAC™ Card
sold on Shoretours.com will be donated to the
Perdure Port Education Fund.
Non-card members can also contribute to the
fund when you book a WWAC™ Participant
tour on Shoretours.com using the Secure Booking
Application (or 'shopping cart') where a percentage
of each tour purchased will go to the fund.
The Perdure Port Education Fund is designed
to assist qualified young adults to further
their higher vocation by providing them with
a donation and/or a 0% interest loan. When loans
to these students are paid back, the returned
money is then placed back into the education
fund to assist even more young adults who are
striving to improve their lives through higher
education.
